In the heavenly court, the Accuser’s role is that of a cynical prosecutor whose sole job is to assume bad faith, search for hidden motives, and insist that a person’s outward righteousness is just a mask for selfishness. The hermeneutics of suspicion adopts the exact spiritual posture of the Accuser. It approaches a text, an institution, or a person with a presumption of guilt. To read purely with suspicion is to invite the Accuser into your mind and let him run your intellectual life.

If Satan is the Father of Lies, his primary mechanism is not making people believe in cartoonish, obvious falsehoods. His mechanism is replacing a profound, multi-layered Truth with a cynical, reductive Lie.
When the hermeneutics of suspicion reads a great work of literature, a historical act of charity, or a sacred text, it replaces the rich, complex, and ultimately redemptive reality with a flat, ugly narrative of power dynamics and biological drives. It says: "Love is just a chemical trick; faith is just psychological coping; this beautiful poem is just a justification for colonialism."
This is the ultimate Lie. It takes the Logos (the Word that brings light and life) and replaces it with a cynical parody. By convincing the reader that the "real" truth is always the ugliest possible interpretation, the hermeneutics of suspicion successfully blinds the reader to actual goodness, beauty, and truth.
